The lab/preclinical portion is at our Rocklin, CA, office. It includes infection control, bitewing exposure, periapical, bisecting, paralleling technique, and digital imaging on manikins. At California Dental Educators, we use the handheld NOMAD for exposure to X-rays. For the preclinical portion, you will expose two sets of four bitewings and three sets of 18 full-mouth series on a practice manikin.
During the clinical portion, you will bring your patients to our Rocklin office, one at a time, on their scheduled time slot, which was given to you the week before class. You will use all the skills you learned during the preclinical class and take x-rays on your patients.
All dental personnel must pass a board-approved radiation safety course before taking X-rays on patients. The Certificate must be posted in the facility where the X-rays are taken.
